He escaped the massacre at Glencoe, settling first at Monzie and changing his name to Cameron. He became Rev. Ian Cameron of Comrie, Perthshire (Old Australian genealogy).
A South African genealogy names him Rev. Samuel Cameron.

3. | Hugh Macdonald (1.Ian1) Notes:
He escaped the massacre at Glencoe and settled as Innkeeper at Dalpowie, nr Murthly, parish of Little Dunkeld, Perthshire, changing his name to Cameron.
He may have had another son, Peter, whose descendants lived at Caputh, Perthshire. A story also exists in that family of descent from McIan. (Ref. Scott Newport)
