1. | Frederick George Arkell was born on 15 May 1825 in Gloucs; was christened in in Middlesex; died on 6 Jan 1920 in Fawkner, Vic. Notes:
Son of James Arkell and Mary Pearce.
He was a "Pentonvillean Exile" to Victoria having stolen picture frames from his carpenter/framemaker employer in Gloucestershire. He seems to have been charged with at least 2 theft offences before being incarcerated and then deported. He established his farm Bylands near Bald Hill and Wandong outside of Melbourne and on his wife's death certificate also describes himself as a storekeeper. The stone farm buildings he and Flora Cameron built are still there. (Ref. Rosemary Willis)

Frederick married Flora Cameron on 27 Aug 1849 in Melbourne. Flora (daughter of Duncan Cameron and Ann Cameron) was born in ca 1827 in Lochaber; died on 25 Jun 1884 in Wallan, Vic. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
