In November 1745 she was visited by her father, Old Lochiel at her town house Balhaldie Close, Dunblane.
She has been described by Burke's Landed Gentry and Somerled MacMillan as married to Dugald Cameron of Strone. No documentary evidence of this has been seen. Mackenzie and Stewart describe her as Miss Peggy, unmarried.
|
26. | Ewen Cameron (5.John3, 2.Ewen2, 1.John1) Notes:

|
67. | Alexander Cameron, 3rd of Dungallon (14.Isobel3, 2.Ewen2, 1.John1) died on 3 Sep 1759 in Quebec. Notes:
Major in Lochiel's Regt in 1745, Standard bearer in Prince's army. He surrendered 6 Mar 1746, transferred from Inverary to Edinburgh Castle March 1747.(Ref. London papers March 1747). He was released 11 Oct 1749 (London Evening Post).
Capt. in 78st Fraser Highlanders, gazetted 21 Jul 1757, having served as ensign (the regiment was formed early 1757).
His will of 1757 left all his property to John Cameron, 4th of Glendessary. The will also mentions Donald Cameron, "my natural son" (Ref. Chris Doak)
It has been suggested that Captain Alexander Cameron of Dungallon, who died 1759, is in fact the son of the standard bearer. Regimental histories record him as 4th of Dungallon. One recent (unsourced) independent book gives a birth date of 1730, which would seem to fit his rank (Bernard A. Drew, re Henry Knox).
However a further review of dates of known family members makes this suggestion unlikely.
Family/Spouse: Catherine Cameron. Catherine (daughter of John Cameron, of Fassifern and Jean Campbell) was born in 1735 in Auchmore, Perthshire; was christened on 3 Dec 1735 in Killin, Perthshire; died on 17 Jun 1766. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Lieut in Loudon's Highlanders.
He is said by Campbell researchers to have been unmarried, and to have died 1751, before his brother Colin. He is also said to be second son, likely with the name Alexander.
Burke's Peerage states he was born 1729, died 1822, and married 1770 Elizabeth Sutherland, with issue Hugh, Kenneth, Norman and Donald Campbell. These dates are incompatible with the McIntyre/Campbell history.
