- He served as Captain in Lochiel's regiment during the '45. In 1755 he was Sergeant in Hume's Regiment of Foot, and in 1763 Lieutenant in the 2nd Virginia Provincial Regiment, "with a numerous family of children (Ref. Chris Doak, Denis Cameron)
Described as Captain of Foot in North America by his brother Alexander in a valuation roll of 1761.
Also In West Indies 1766 "a brother of Stronse" (Ref. Scotland's Empire)
