    Notes 
    • Recorded as Heugh at baptism. Carnegie Park was owned by Mrs Foster, who d. 1833, widow of Dr James Foster.

      All other records point to a birth ca 1836. "Aged 6 in 1841, 24 in 1861". A first Hugh may have died in infancy.

      Not with his family in 1851 census, but as Ewen Cameron, aged 15, born Port Glasgow he was at Culchenna, nr Onich, Kilmallie, nephew of Charles Cameron, miller and Mary nee Cameron.

      Gardener & Seedsman, Port Glasgow, in 1861. He migrated to New Zealand by 1866, lived at South Spit, Hokitika, Westland, where he continued to work as a Gardener. A garden nursery was advertised in Revell St in 1875. He won a prize for a collection of ferns in 1874, and in 1880 he exhibited a bale of flax and the Melbourne Exhibition.

      Described as school teacher at death.
