    ‘He first worked for Neil Black when he arrived in Victoria before managing Hopkins Hill, Chatsworth for John Moffatt for twenty years. He then leased Mawallok, Beaufort for twelve years before purchasing Murdeduke, Winchelsea in 1886. He then purchased Mount Pleasant in 1888 and Mountside in 1900, both also at Winchelsea. He and his sons also leased Salt Creek, Woorndoo in the 1890’s.’
