    Notes:

    He left Greenock 4 Jun 1841 for Port Phillip per "India" with his wife and her 2 children. The ship was burnt at sea 20 Jul 1841, with 19 people (including a Hannah? Cameron - another source states Samuel Cameron, Methven) drowned. The survivors were rescued by a French whaling ship and taken to Rio de Janeiro. After 3 weeks they boarded "Grindlay" which reached Portland 11 Oct 1841. Other passengers saved were Alexander, Harriet and Isabella Cameron, not yet identified (ref. India web site).

    He was a blacksmith in Portland and Hamilton.
    Later of Orford, near Hamilton, Vic.

    Thomas married Elizabeth Moncrieff on 7 May 1841 in Canongate, Edinburgh. Elizabeth was born on 20 Jul 1820 in Edinburgh; died on 27 Dec 1889 in Hamilton. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
