He was indentured to James Mellis, merchant of Stirling 1799, emigrated to NSW 1828, given grant of 1280 acres at Kingdon Ponds on the Hunter River. He was instrumental in having it renamed Scone in 1829.
Hugh married Jessie Robertson on 6 Nov 1808 in Stirling. Jessie was born in 1789; died on 23 May 1873 in Ipswich, Qld; was buried in Dugandon, Ipswich, Qld. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

She arrived later with her children, ca 1832/33.
She may have arrived Sydney 29 Oct 1832 per "Minerva" from Leith, with her children John, Margaret and Jean (ref Ancestry.com). Captain Robertson may have been listed as Master John H. Robertson, possibly a relation of Jessie.
