UPDATE – CLAN CAMERON INTERNATIONAL GATHERING: 2020

20 March 2020

I now declare that the proposed Gathering in July/August will be cancelled.

Obviously, we would like to rearrange but I think we should not, at this stage, try and set a date as no-one knows what the situation will be in the months or indeed years to come. It is, or course, very sad and disappointing and I hope that people who have booked travel and accommodations do not lose out financially.

I should be grateful if you would tell all those who need to know (e.g. those who have booked ceilidh tickets, Visit Scotland, those giving talks, etc.) of this decision.

The ramifications of the virus will be enormous and unprecedented and I would ask you all to look after yourselves. With very best wishes to you all,

Lochiel

I guess a good question to consider is – how can we strengthen clan bonds and increase interaction between us without physically gathering this year?  I notice that many musicians are connecting with their fans with live video feeds on social media.  Maybe we could consider posting one minute videos on social media to say hello to other clan members, introduce ourselves, and help other clan members get to know each other a little better?  I’m also very open to other ideas.  The Cameron motto is “Aonaibh Ri Chéile”, which means “unite with each other”, or simply “unite”.  Let’s not let this pesky virus get us down, and let’s find ways of uniting even if we are mostly stuck at home !

Best regards,
